Gray Leadbetter, 11, from Morganton, NC, is midway through her 2nd full season of kart racing and has made some remarkable strides. This young racer already has a South American Karting Championship to her credit, as well as an indoor motocross championship. For the 2016 race season, she jumped into racing karts full-time in the highly competitive GoPro Motorplex Karting Challenge and is contending several major National events.
Leadbetter, who races a Cadet Kart in the IAME Pro Swift category, has had several podiums this season at the club level against some of the best cadet drivers in the nation in the GoPro Motorplex Challenge. She also took the impressive main event win and overall runner-up position at a Gear Up FI National race, as well as a 2nd place overall at the USPKS Summer Nationals after leading most of the laps. Her progression from the beginning of the season to now has been from a consistent top 10 finisher to running in the top 5 while battling for wins and podiums every race. Gray is quickly making a name for herself in the four-wheel race community.
This fall Gray will move up to the Junior Kart and race in IAME X30 Jr category (ages 12-16) and will continue to work with her driving coach Dusty Davis. Dusty is a multi-time national karting champion, Legend Car Champion and former NASCAR Truck series driver. Gray will begin racing an RFC Kart in the Mini Outlaw Series (dirt karts), at the Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, NC to further develop her as a champion racer.
Leadbetter is sponsored by Alpinestars, Metal Mulisha, Team O’Neil Rally School, iOmounts, and Top Kart.
